Skiing
Winter Park Resort has superb skiing and snowboarding for beginners to experts on its three interconnected peaks, Winter Park, Mary Jane, and Vasquez Ridge. With over 3,000 skiable acres, 143 trails, and 25 lifts, you could spend all day on this winter playground and never ski the same run twice. For those new to skiing, a visit to the SolVista Basin ski area is a perfect way to jump into the sport. More than half of its trails are devoted to beginners and intermediate skiers, and their guaranteed ski school accommodates children as young as three years old. Cross-country skiing is abundant in Winter Park, too, with miles and miles of groomed trails just waiting to be explored.

Are you read to tee it up at 9,000 feet? You'll hit the ball longer than you've ever hit before, thanks to the altitude. Several beautiful courses around Winter Park will make it tough to choose where to play. According to Golf Digest, Pole Creek Golf Course is the #1 place to play in Colorado. Its 27 holes offer three distinct golfing experiences: The Ranch, The Meadow, and The Ridge. Whichever you choose, the gorgeous views are sure to please. Other nearby courses include Grand Elk Ranch & Club, Grand Lake Golf Course, and Headwaters Golf Course at Granby Ranch.

Horseback riding
A number of ranches and stables around Winter Park lead horseback riding trips, wagon rides, and pony rides. Many trails wind through Rocky Mountain National Park, a scenic wonder that will leave you in awe. At Snow Mountain Ranch, you'll enjoy breakfast rides or a horse-drawn sleigh under the sparkling winter stars.

Water sports
Opportunities to hit the water abound in the Winter Park area. At Lake Granby, you can both boat and fish. You can even take a snowmobile out for fishing in the winter. The Colorado River offers fun family floats as well as kayaking through the rapids. Guided fly fishing trips are popular, as are whitewater trips down the Colorado and Eagle Rivers.
